What is his full name? Rogart, Fox-grey
Does his name have a special meaning? His title, 'grey', was given to him at birth because of his fur color
Does your character have a methodical or disorganized personality? Probably disorganized, he's pretty headstrong and brash, so he wouldn't have time to be methodical
Does he think inside himself more than he talks out loud to their friends? Well, he doesn't have any friends (See below), so I suppose he would talk to himself. I know I do. :P
Do they have friends? Not really. (leastwise not at the beginning of the story). His life is nomadic at best, so he never stays anywhere long enough to make friends.
Is there something he is afraid of? A cage. Being locked up to where he cannot decide for himself what he wants to do.
Does he write, dream, dance, sing, or photograph? He whittles, carving thumb-sized sculptures from bits of wood
What is his favorite book or genre? Books are uncommon in Theorlen, but oral tales are passed down from one generation to the next. Rogart's favorites are the tales of places he has never been.
Who is someone that inspires him? No one, really. He has had a fairly poor sampling of people in his travels and so has a no regard for anyone in particular
Favorite flavor of ice cream? Ice cream is unknown in Theorlen, but if it was... Rogart would probably prefer rocky road (How does this help develop him? :P )
Favorite season of the year? Spring. When new life springs from the tundra, the wildbuck herds travel north again and the ice melts on the streams and ponds
How old is he? 17, last I checked. He was 13 when I started writing him, but as my writing and realism improved, he aged a little. :) And no, he's not the same age as me. I've kept going. :)
What does he do with his spare time? Whittle, practice his swordplay, hunt wildbuck
Does he see the big picture or live in the moment? Very much a 'live in the moment' type of person. He tends not to think of what the repercussions of his actions will be.
Is he a perfectionist? Yes! Not only does he make sure whatever he is working on is perfect before he moves on, but he is incredibly depressed when his view of 'perfection' is proved imperfect.
What does his handwriting look like? I don't think he can write, actually...
Favorite animal? Uh, animals are a touchy subject in Theorlen... :) Because everyone could technically be called an animal, he doesn't exactly have a favorite. (it's like asking what's your favorite type of skin color... :P )
Does he have any pets? An extremely touchy subject (See above) :). No.
Does he have any siblings? Nope.
Does he have a 'life verse' and if so what is it? The Bible, as such, does not exist in Theorlen, though the words of the Maker are very much alive and present.
Favorite writing utensil? He doesn't write! :P But a suitable substitution would be the bone-handle knife he uses to whittle
What type of laugh does he have? Fairly loud and exuberant. He doesn't hold in his mirth.
Who is his best friend? In the beginning, no one. Later on, Dakar, Otter-orphan
What is his family like? He never had a real family, but was brought up by Chain, Wolf-sword, as an apprentice
Is he a Christian, or will he eventually find Jesus? (I shall use the terms of Theorlen to answer this question). Rogart has never heard of the Maker, but he can see clearly into people's intentions, so he has a very solid perception of what is wrong. During his travels, he will meet someone who tells him of the Maker and shows him the missing solution to the world's problems
Does he believe in fairies? I do not believe fairies exist in the folklore of Theorlen
Does he like hedgehogs? uhh... this would a be question to refer to the animal questions above. I don't think they exist in Theorlen.
Favorite kind of weather? slightly cloudy, overcast, right before rain, when there is a dampness in the air, or just after, when everything is silver with water drops.
Does he have a good sense of humor? If so what kind? Somewhat. It's rather dry, but he can almost always bring a smile to anyone's face
How did he do in school, or any kind of education they might have had? No proper schooling, but he has learned several of the tales of his land by memory, and has received a full sword training as an apprentice to a sword-master
Any strange hobbies? Whittling, (though I don't know if that can be called strange), wandering off by himself to explore, setting up small piles of rocks where he as been so he knows he has been there before when he passes through again
What kind of music does he like? The sweeping, lilting, measured music of the lays, the upbeat, folk music of the steppes, and the solitary, mournful keening of a reed pipe
Does he like to go outside? He practically lives outside, all the time. Being cooped up inside for long would drive him insane. (The winter months are hard on him :P )
Is he naturally curious? Very much so. He is always exploring, trying to figure out things for himself, though he would rarely ask someone else for information or help
Right, or left handed? Right handed
Favorite color? Gray, or silver
Where is he from? The steppes of Silverwind, in the north of Theorlen
Any enemies? No personal ones, though his small actions will eventually set him at odds with one of the most powerful men in Theorlen
What are his quirks? He has an annoying habit of only telling someone exactly what they ask for, and withholding other information which has a direct effect on their request.
What kinds of things get on his nerves? Other people's problems. He can't understand why they can't just move on, though he himself has a hard time forgiving others.
Is he independent, or needs others to help out? He is incredibly independent, too much so. He would rather be out wandering by himself in the wilds than with a group
What is his biggest secret? Hmm... can't say for sure, he's a pretty open sort of guy
Has he ever been in love? Not yet.... :P
What is his comfort food? Wildbuck jerky. The toughness gives him something to chew on (in case anyone's wondering, most hoofed animals are not alterers. So deer and cows are just that :P)
Does he play a musical instrument? If so, what? He is quite good at playing the violin, actually, though he does not own one
What color are his eyes? Hair? His eye are a hazel, his hair a vibrant, deep gray. (like the gray of a thundercloud)
What is his favorite place to be? Out in the open air, up high, perched on a rock
What are some of his dreams or goals? To be a sword-master, and to travel all of Theorlen
Does he enjoy sports? Yes! But he is extremely competitive, and often gets depressed when he/his team loses. Some sports he enjoys are archery competitions, sword duels, races, spear throwing and leathpell (closest earth sport would be football)
What is his favorite flower or plant? Silvergrass, it grows a tiny white flower that, when seen in bunches, appears as one large flower
What is their biggest accomplishment? In the beginning? Mastering the sword at the age of fifteen. In the end? Saving all of Theorlen from the Sable menace. :D
What is one of their strongest childhood memories? The dark face of a man with high cheekbones, a crooked grin, deep-set eyes, thick eyebrows and thin white scar traced along his cheek and neck
What is their favorite food? Wildbuck jerky, or maybe fried biscuits. (Yummy!)
Do they believe in love at first sight? He doesn't believe in love, period :P
What kind of home do they live in? A wildbuck-skin tent normally, other times a simple blanket and the stars
What do they like to wear? A loose long-sleeve shirt, a leather jerkin, a warm hood, a short sword at his waist, breeches and tall boots
What would they do if they discovered they were dying? I'm not sure. He's rather young to really know what he would do
What kind of holidays, or traditions do they celebrate? Every full moon the clans gather together to tell tales, sing songs, and share news. When spring comes, and the wildbuck come north again, the young men from the all the clans gather to hold a friendly rivalry hunt. (I seriously just made that up on the spot :P )
What do your other characters have to say about them? They would call Rogart headstrong, rather stubborn, brash, but loyal, courageous, even foolish, skilled for his age, and vibrant
If they could change one thing in their world, what would it be? Stop the clans from joining Soltice, Serpent -sable in his campaign to conquer the rest of Quartorlen
What is their backstory and how does it affect them now? He does not remember anything of his real family, having grown up as Chain, Wolf-sword's apprentice
How do they show love? He doesn't, at least not at first. Later, he might just sit next to someone else, not saying anything necessarily, but letting them be the first to speak
How competitive are they? VERY. (See sports question above)
What do they think about when nothing else is going on? What lies beyond his field of vision, what he has not yet explored
Do they have an accent? Not really, but if he does, it's every so slightly British.
What is their station in life? Apprentice to a wandering sword-master
What do others expect from them? To be quiet, stay still when told to, entertain otherwise. To be present when needed, and gone when not
Where were they born, and when? He doesn't know... and I don't either :)
How do they feel about people in general? Generally distrustful and low regard. He has seen some of the worst men can be, and so prefers to be alone.
Well, that was helpful for me! Hopefully it was fun for you as well!
Silver and Sable, here I come!
